Farmhouse Dinner Rolls

Soft homemade dinner rolls made with honey and butter. These have become my most requested recipe and a favorite at just about every family gathering.
Prep Time 2 hours 30 minutes
Servings: 24 rolls
Course: Bread
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups warm water (110 degrees F)
  • 2 TBSP Dry active yeast
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 stick melted butter (110 degrees F)
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 7 cups flour

Equipment

  • 1 stand mixer
  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 Mixing bowl

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine your water, honey, and yeast. Mix gently until combined, let sit for 10 minutes for your yeast to bloom.
  2. After the 10 min, add in your butter, egg, and salt. Mix until combined.
  3. Add in your flour starting with 4 cups. Add in 1/2 cup at a time until you've reached your desired consistency. Your dough should be slightly tacky, smooth, and elastic. Knead for about 5 minutes.
  4. Place dough into large, oiled bowl, turning it once to coat the surface. Cover bowl and let rise for 45 minutes.
  5. After your 45 minutes is up, punch dough down and divide into 3 oz balls. Place in a greased baking sheet, cover rolls and let rise again for 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  7. Bake rolls for 22-25 minutes rotating after the 12 min mark. They should all be golden brow on the tops.
  8. Remove from oven, butter the tops, and enjoy!
